American Indian Code of Ethics

It is good to see the diversity of our members and how they all want to reach a common goal. The preservation of our heritage life line, pim aiimvhlpesa (our culture). We have members from all over the country. Different ways, walks of life, and different ideas. All I ask as we take this journey is that we follow the American Indian Code of Ethics in our community.
1. Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road and yours alone, others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.
2. Respect all things that are placed on this earth whether it is a person or plant
3. Honor other people’s thoughts, wishes, and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.
4. Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply when it returns to you.
5. All people make mistakes. All mistakes can be forgiven.
6. Bad thoughts cause illness of mind, body, and spirit. Practice optimism.
7. Avoid hurting the heart of others. The poison of your pain will return to you.
8. Be true to yourself first. You cannot nurture and help others if you cannot nurture and help yourself first.
9. Respect other beliefs. Do not force your beliefs on others.
10. Keep yourself balanced. Your mental self, spiritual self, emotional self, and physical self all need to be strong, pure, and healthy. Work out the body to strengthen the mind. Grow rich in spirit to cure emotional ails.
